Mia Rodriguez is a rising senior at a South Florida school within the Honors College studying Political Science and International Relations with a minor in Asian Studies plus certificates in Pre-Law and Professional Skills as well as Law, Ethics, and Society. They were born and raised in Hialeah, Florida from Cuban immigrant parents so it is fair to assess that geopolitics and societal development hold a significant place in their life. They are active in various programs including Model United Nations (MUN), Student Government Association (SGA), and served the Writing Center for Excellence. Mia Rodriguez has dedicated significant time and passion to the FIU MUN team where they have earned numerous awards at conferences across the continent. They had a successful season as Head Delegate, with an overall collegiate career competitive record of 2:3. They have also directed three high school MUN committees under FIMUN. Mx. Rodriguez has also been heavily involved in FIU’s Student Government Association acting as Housing Senator along with Appropriations Committee Vice Chair then Chair where they now currently serve as Chief Justice, chair of all judicial proceedings under FIU SGA. All these experiences such as providing feedback on students’ essays as a Writing Assistant have aided Mia Rodriguez into making an impact on the FIU community to the best of their ability in both speaking and writing thanks to their analytical classes in politics! Mia has also staffed, crisis coordinated, directed at GatorMUN before and is ecstatic for their Cola Wars Crisis Committee this year at Gatormun XXII! When free, Mia enjoys watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, exercising calisthenics (beginner at least) in a local park, reading topical legal articles to critical political theory, and spending time with the people who matter most to them including their friends, family, and people who bring out the best in themselves always
