About:
Dear Delegates,
My name is Nicole Granda, and I am so excited to welcome you to GatorMun XXII! I am a fourth-year pre-law student at the University of Florida majoring in political science and history. I joined Model UN my junior year, and despite only being on the team for one year, it has already been so fulfilling, and I have learned so many valuable skills like collaboration and communication. Gender inequality around the globe has always been an issue close to my heart, so I am excited to present this committee to you all and see how you work together to come up with creative, forward-thinking solutions!
Sincerely,
Nicole Granda
Director of CSW

Commission on the status of women:
The year is 2022, two years after the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the lockdown reducing the function of society to only the essentials, those already disadvantaged in society, such as women, were especially impacted in areas like security and the workforce. As society is beginning to return to normality, the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) seeks to mediate these inequalities by determining the causes and attempting to address them through the use of tangible solutions that promote the safety and empowerment of women worldwide.
As members of this commission, you should take into consideration that the rights of women and public opinion surrounding gender equality vary from country to country, so you should represent your country accordingly. What are the primary challenges that women in your country face in 2022 and beyond? What has your nation done to address the discrepancies between men and women in society? Can these solutions be applied to other member nations of the commission? For this commission to be successful, nations must focus on previous policies and efforts that have yielded observable results, while also taking into consideration that there currently exists religious and cultural differences between countries that affect the status of women. As a delegate of the CSW, it is your job to ensure that there are measures taken to prevent the societal regression of women during times of crisis.
