About:

Julian Junkroski (he/him) is a second-year International Studies major with a focus in Europe and a minor in French at the University of Florida. He has been involved with MUN for six years, starting his freshman year of high school and continuing at the collegiate level. Julian has directed committees at SWFLMUN, served as a co-chair at GatorMUN and SunMUN, and is SunMUNV’s USG of GA committees. Outside of MUN, Julian is a member of the Honors College and Italian Student Association. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, travelling to new countries, rooting for the New Orleans Saints, and being a foodie trying new cuisines. He is excited to see invigorating debate and innovative solutions at this year's iteration of GatorMUN!

DISEC (the Disarmament and International Security Committee) was the first official UN Committee, serving as the primary international forum for nations to debate and negotiate global security issues, arms control, and disarmament. The first topic will address the issue of satellite weaponry and its targeting of other satellites in space. Delegates will analyze previously existing UN regulations on satellite weaponry, the prevalence of new technology being used to target satellites in space, and how these uses could affect the livelihoods of hundreds of millions across the globe. The second topic addresses continuing the goal of disarmament in a world of increased conflict and protectionist ideology. Delegates will explore the history of DISEC’s goal of disarmament, current conflicts occurring around the world, and the nature of global geopolitics and how it has affected current conflicts. This committee welcomes legal-based solutions that address the presented topics using the powers vested in DISEC, and encourages thoughtful and factual debate that addresses these disputatious topics in a way that ensures global cooperation and peace.
