Welcome to the United Nations General Assembly First Committee, also known as DISEC (Disarmament and International Security Committee). This year, delegates will focus on one of two critical issues: Nuclear Non-Proliferation or Cyber Warfare, both highlighting the complex interplay between state security and technological capabilities. Nuclear proliferation, the spread of nuclear weapons and technology, poses severe risks to international stability, with the accumulation of arsenals raising the potential for conflict and far-reaching consequences. Meanwhile, cyber warfare represents a significant modern threat, where anonymous cyber attacks can disrupt or destroy critical infrastructure such as power grids and financial systems, complicating attribution and increasing the risk of unintended escalation. Delegates will choose to focus on either preventing the spread of nuclear weapons or addressing the threats posed by cyber warfare. Through informed discussions and strategic negotiations, the DISEC Committee aims to develop comprehensive resolutions to mitigate these threats, ensuring a safer and more secure world for all.
