Gravity Falls Town Council
About:
Sam Bruce is a graduating senior at UF and is very excited to be the director for the Gravity Falls Town Council Crisis Committee. He is originally from Clemson, South Carolina and is earning his degree in Biology from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Sam is a particular fan of all things Disney, including many of the beloved animated shows featured on Disney Channel and Disney XD. Gravity Falls is his favorite of these shows as it has a more mysterious and much darker tone in comparison to other animated shows from Disney, addressing serious problems and topics throughout the show’s two season run. As such, Sam decided to address the question left unanswered in the series, which is how the townspeople react to strange and supernatural occurrences common to the town without the intervention of the Society of the Blind Eye. He looks forward to seeing how the council members decide to address this at the conference!
Sam has been a part of the UF Model UN travel team for the past three years, competing at various conferences in all committee types across the East Coast. He has also served on the GatorMUN Secretariat for the past two years, serving as Chief of Staff in 2022 and the Undersecretary General of General Assemblies in 2023. This will be his first time directing a committee at GatorMUN. When not engaging in MUN, Sam can be found reading, playing the violin, watching Disney shows, cooking, or working in the lab.
Gravity Falls town Committee:
It is unseen no longer. After the disbandment of the Society of the Blind Eye in Gravity Falls, the townspeople’s days of blissful ignorance are brought to an abrupt end. Sightings of gnomes, zombies, merfolk, ghosts, and other beings have been increasing in number and frequency, causing widespread fear and confusion. With the recovery of their memories from the Society, the townsfolk are beginning to remember their previously forgotten encounters with the supernatural, further adding to the general chaos. Furthermore, as a result of the mass summoning of the undead mere weeks before the disbandment of the Society, the town is facing serious infrastructural damages, threatening the steady revenue brought in from tourism during the summer.
To address these issues, the Gravity Falls Town Council has called an emergency meeting. In order to restore peace to the town, the council must find a way to address the supernatural sightings and prevent mass hysteria. Furthermore, as Gravity Falls continues to be a popular tourist destination due to the famous Mystery Shack, the council must also address the infrastructure crisis to continue to sustain the substantial revenue incurred from tourism.
