The Reconstruction of Japan, 1945:
In the wake of Japan's unconditional surrender and the subsequent Allied occupation, led primarily by the United States and the British Commonwealth, General Douglas MacArthur has been appointed as the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers (SCAP). His role is to oversee Japan's occupation, reconstruction, and establishment of a new government. Japan faces severe challenges including political collapse, mass starvation, and widespread destruction. As delegates, you'll address urgent issues such as alleviating starvation, rebuilding the economy, holding war criminals accountable, and creating a new democratic political system to prevent future conflicts.
For first-time participants, don’t worry! The chair and crisis staff are here to guide you and ensure a smooth and engaging experience. I’m excited for a weekend of dynamic debate and innovative problem-solving. See you in January!
