Scripts, Strikes, and Solidarity: The 2023 Writers Guild of America

About:

Hello! My name is Elizabeth Insuasti, I am currently a junior at the University of Florida majoring in history and media production. I have a strong passion for international relations, film studies, and labor rights. My journey in Model United Nations began my freshman year of high school, and it has been such a fun and transformative ride for me. I have made so many great memories in MUN and hope this committee can be an engaging and positive experience for you all!

The 2023 WGA:

This committee will delve into the intricacies of the Writers Guild of America, a labor union representing writers in the film, television, radio, and new media sectors. The WGA plays a crucial role in advocating for fair wages, better working conditions, and creative rights for writers, who are often the unsung heroes behind the stories that entertain and inform us. Given the current global conversations around labor rights, intellectual property, and the evolving landscape of media, this committee’s discussions are both relevant and impactful.
