Back from the Dead: The Cuban Revolution

About Braden:

It’s 1956, Fidel Castro has returned from his exile in Mexico and has landed on the shores of Cuba. He will have to build a revolutionary movement from the remains of the original July 26th movement. Through covert revolutionary action, recruitment campaigns and various other tactics he will rebuild his revolution. To assist him are the original revolutionaries, allies from his exile, and new revolutionaries who joined up following his return. They will face the Batista regime, the U.S., and each other. Can they bring the revolution back from the dead or will it be doomed like before?

About Antonio:

Hello everyone! My name is Braden O’Brien, and I am a Junior majoring in Data Science and Computer Information Systems. I joined Model United Nations during my first year of college and quickly discovered a passion for diplomacy, public speaking, and fast paced thinking. Since then, MUN has become one of the most rewarding parts of my college experience, giving me the opportunity to challenge myself with new perspectives and meet incredible people. Outside of MUN, I enjoy spending time with friends, staying active, playing video games, and exploring new interests whenever I can. I am excited to serve as your director for this committee and look forward to seeing the creativity, collaboration, and debate that you bring to the conference

Committee Description:

Howdy, my name is Antonio Carvalho and I will be your director for this GatorMUN Cuban Revolution Crisis. I’m graduating this spring and am excited to get to do such a fun topic for one of my last crisis committees. I plan on going to law school down in Orlando to eventually work as a public defender so I will probably at least show up a few more times at these conferences. I picked the topic since I have had an interest in Cuban history throughout my time as a history student. It’s always been one of the great alternate history questions of what else could have happened during the Revolution? What changes could have occurred if things played out slightly differently? I hope you guys have some fun while getting to answer these questions and most of all learn something new about Cuba
