Hail Mary, Part II: The Petrova Task Force

Directed By: Tanner Croddy

About:

The Hail Mary was a success, the Beatles have just arrived on Earth carrying live Taumoeba back with them, Earth's only hope. The Petrova Task Force has been called together again to save the world from the ongoing Astrophage crisis that has begun to not only dim the sum, but rapidly cool the Earth. Delegates must use their shared authority to contain the Astrophage crisis, by using what the Beatles brought back, without going so far as to cause global warming to restart. The Taskforce must also manage the planetary response to sentient extraterrestrials, the Eridians, as well as explore the ramifications and potential implementations of building with Xenonite. Astrophage itself must also be regulated, a substance, and organism, famously capable of instantly melting a metric ton of steel from using a single gram cannot be left unchecked. Overall, delegates must decide how to navigate all this and more as they craft direct actions and lasting policy, balancing science, national interest, and global security in the new age of Astrophage and interstellar travel.

Oh, and don't forget about Antarctica."

Committee Description:

"Tanner Croddy is a Senior Mechanical Engineering student at FIU and your Director for Hail Mary PT II - The Petrova Task Force. He is an avid traveler hitting over 40 countries while under 20 as somewhat of a foreign correspondent, which is exactly what led him to Model UN, where he now serves as a Training Director for the FIU team after 2 years on the collegiate circuit concurrent with his time serving in FIU's SGA. He is no stranger to legalese or to complex science and prizes the use of both in not only in delegates writings, but also speeches. He currently works for TSMC as a Chemical-Mechanical Planarization Engineer helping manufacture the chips that may or may not run most iPhone, Nvidia, and AMD products. He plans to stay in the field of building precision technology whether that be computer chips, rockets, or F1 cars. Beyond engineering and politicking Tanner enjoys sailing, paddle boarding, free diving, and the water in general as a licensed captain with over 5,000 blue-water nautical miles. He is very excited to see where the Petrova Task Force can take Hail Mary PT II."
