Let Them Eat SLOP!: Revolution in the Directors’ Guild of America, 2035

Directed By: Josh Albanos and Zachery Dagostino

About Josh:
The year is 2035 and curtains seem to be closing on the age of movies. Shortform and AI generated content now act as primary sources of entertainment for much of the developed world, meanwhile Hollywood studios are starting to shut down, and movie theaters are continuing to close. What remains of Hollywood consists of awful reboots, spinoffs, and live action Disney adaptations which somehow still bring in billions at the box office. Lasting studios are now much more likely to bring in someone willing to listen and not complain rather than some visionary director who wants to do their own thing. That leaves many of Hollywood’s most recognized directors struggling to produce their films. As a result, the Directors Guild of America has brought together many of these top names together (and some back to life) as a final gambit to SAVE HOLLYWOOD and more importantly, their careers. Will directors give into the Age of Slop? Or will they bring back a more glorious Golden Age to Hollywood?

About Zachery:
Hello Delegates! My name is Josh Albanos, and I am a Junior studying Construction Management here at UF’s Rinker School of Construction. I’ve been involved in MUN since my freshman year of high school, and this committee will be my second year directing at GATORMUN after I directed last year’s crisis ad-hoc. Since getting to college, Zack and I’s hometown friend group have frequently watched films online together to stay in touch, as a result we’ve seen our share of great and horrible movies which have inspired the concept behind this committee. I’m looking forward to seeing what you all bring to committee!
Committee Description:
Hi, my name is Zackery Dagostino and I am a third year Film major at the University of Central Florida. I have been staffing MUN conferences for the last 3 years and this committee will be my first time directing! Josh and I have together many times staffing committees so I assure that you are in good hands. I obviously love movies so I’m really excited to direct this committee and see what you guys come with. Some of my favorite directors are David Lynch, Edgar Wright, and Ridley Scott. I can’t wait to see you all in committee!
