About Clara:

After a demon prince has ravaged the lands of a fantasy world and taken hold of the crown, a band of travelers must work together using their differing abilities to take down foes, and help the impoverished people of their kingdom. A mage, soldier, healer, scout, and barbarian travel through unexplored deserts, broken down villages, devastating weather, and harrowing hopes to restore order to the kingdom and its government. Through perilous lands, will they save the world or fall victim themselves to their greatest enemies? What these travelers don't realize is that with every action comes a consequence, no matter how generous the action is. Slaying a beast means more than just safety for the residents of the small town it targeted. It brings a rotting carcass and death to the doorsteps of all that live near. In this committee, delegates won't be the main travelers but instead, the supporting characters who follow along the journey of the greats. Delegates in this specialized committee will use directives and directives only to follow behind the band of adventurers and not only ensure their safety but provide support to all those who suffer from their careless, though well intentioned, actions. The forgotten characters in a story will finally get their turn to make a difference. Our world is limited to reality but in this committee, even the smallest role can shape kingdoms. The question is not whether you are the hero of the story, it’s whether you are willing to step up and change its ending.

Committee Description:

Clara Roman is a third year Environmental Engineering major and UF Model UN’s head of Crisis Member Development. It’s her third year on the University of Florida's team and she is currently serving as the team's head of Crisis Member Development. Although she didn't have the pleasure of competing in high school, her first ever experience in Model United Nations was staffing GatorMUN 2 years ago. Now she will have the pleasure of directing for GatorMUN yet again after running a traditional crisis room last year. Directing has not only taught her how to be a better delegate but also how to curate an engaging, exciting experience for others who love something (this organization) just as much as her. She believes her greatest skill when teaching or competing is her creativity. Stories have always been an escape for Clara. In this committee she aims to create an epic odyssey of an escape for those who want to be transported to a world where the only limit is their creativity.

In Roman’s personal life, she spends time online reading manga and watching anime as well as playing video games. Her favorite pieces of media heavily focus on world building and adventure. The likes of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, That Time I Turned into a Slime, and Stray have served as a direct inspiration for this committee. This room will allow everyone to experience the tundras of ice forests, the heat of a dragon's breath, and even the weight of neverending riches in your pockets. Roman aims to give a foundation for never before seen creativity. With endless settings and challenges both otherworldly and familiar, no session will be normal. Prepare to take a trip through the depths of a storyteller's mind and a main character's heroics. Through it all, even in a world where you may not be the lead, your actions still shape your story. In every challenge and every choice, you have the power to make a difference.
