No Capes!: The National League of Supers

Directed By: Alonzo Rojas

About:

Set during The Golden Years of Supers, this committee places delegates at the center of a growing national debate over the future of superhero activity in society. As the public continues to have increased concerns over the collateral damage, accountability, and responsibility of supers, many of the most prominent supers in the country have come together as the United Supers Coalition, an organization dedicated to representing the interests of the super community and ensuring their future in modern society. While the threats of supervillains and natural disasters persist, increasing pressures from government officials have raised questions about whether they can continue operating as usual. Through the United Supers Coalition, delegates will work to address concerns from government officials, media organizations, and the general public while confronting the looming threats that still undermine the stability of society.

Committee Description:

Alonzo Rojas is a fourth-year Electrical Engineering major at the University of Florida, and is beyond excited to be your director for this crisis committee! He was born in South Florida but mostly grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and has competed in Model UN for eight years across the high school and collegiate circuit, including directing at GatorMUN XXII and GatorMUN XXIII. Outside of MUN, Alonzo is involved in the Audio Engineering Society as well as the Venezuelan Student Association. In his free time, you’ll find him watching the Miami Heat struggle to win regular season games, playing Skate 3, and finishing the Mini Crossword as fast as possible. As someone who is a lifelong fan of the Incredibles franchise, he can’t wait to bring this committee to life and have a great weekend in Gainesville!
